Relocation for short-nosed pets

Relocating a dog or cat is a complex process that varies from one pet to another, but for certain breeds of pets, there are even more factors to consider.

Relocating short-nosed pets, such as dogs or cats, is not a simple process that varies from one animal to another. However, there are a few additional factors to consider for certain breeds of pets.

Transporting short-nosed pets presents a unique challenge due to their unique anatomical structure, which can cause increased difficulties in breathing, especially in hot or cold weather conditions, as well as during the stress of air travel.

The general guideline is not to fly short-nosed pets in especially hot weather conditions. The ideal conditions for flying short-nosed pets are when the temperature does not exceed 24 degrees Celsius at any stage of the journey, including the airport itself.

In the United States and other parts of the world, many airlines are not willing to fly short-nosed pets during the summer months, and there are additional restrictions on flying certain breeds of dogs. For example, there is a ban on flying Bulldogs, Pugs, and Boston Terriers between May 15th and September 15th.

Airline companies include the following Dog breeds in their list of short-nosed pets:

English Bulldog, American Bulldog, Boston Terrier, Boxer, Brussels Griffon, Bulldog, Bullmastiff, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Cane Corso, Dogo Argentino, Dogue de Bordeaux, King Charles Spaniel, French Bulldog, Japanese Chin, Lhasa Apso, Mastiff Neapolitan, Pekingese, Presa Canario, Pug, Rottweiler, Shar-Pei, Shih Tzu, Tibetan Spaniel and Mixed Bulldog.

In case of relocation with a cat, these breeds are included in the Airline companies list of short-nosed cats: British Shorthair, Himalayan, Persian and Exotic Shorthair.

As mentioned, the transportation of short-nosed pets requires special attention, a well-considered choice of the pet's flight date, and consultation with a relocation expert to ensure successful planning, safe flight, and a smooth landing for your pet.

But there is also good news - with the right knowledge and guidance, the transportation of your short-nosed pet can be easy and stress-free.
